The institutional training and education system that provide initial training and subsequent professional education for LEO’s and future supervisors.
CONTINUING LAW ENFORCEMENT EDUCATION
All Law Enforcement Officers (LEO’s) and reserve LEO’s licensed in the State of Missouri are required to have continuing education for the purpose of enhancing performance and professional growth while maintaining their license. It is the responsibility of each LEO to ensure that his or her Missouri Peace Officer Standardsand Training (POST) mandated continuing education requirements are met. All Law Enforcement Officers of the Howell County Sheriff's Office are required to annotate their annual training on LESP 128-Individual Training Record Form.
The Department of Public Safety mandated that each LEO annually must obtain 24 hours in the following area(s):
2 hrs in Legal Studies
2 hrs in Interpersonal Perspectives
2 hrs Technical Studies
2 hrs Skill Development - Firearms
16 hrs of Electives
1 hr Racial Profiling *Not in addition to the 24 hrs
1 hr Implicit Bias *Not in addition to the 24 hrs
1 hr De-escalation *Not in addition to the 24 hrs
