SPECIAL MISSIONS DIVISION

The Special Missions Division is comprised of designated law enforcement teams and/or units, both organic to the Sheriff's Office or regional (being of multiple agencies) that are recruited, selected, trained, qualified, equipped and assigned accordingly as to their specific capability in order to assist as appropriate or to resolve critical incidents involving a threat to public safety, which would otherwise exceed the capabilities of traditional law enforcement first responders and/or investigative units.  The National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) Tactical Response and Operations Standards and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security FEMA 508-6 Typed Resources aid in structuring such teams and/or units.  The division is also charged with providing professional development training and education to the office in efforts to enhance the profession.
