AWARD CRITERIA

The Award of Honor is awarded by the Commanding Law Enforcement Officer of the presiding jurisdiction to a person who, while serving in any capacity in or with the office, distinguishes himself or herself conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his or her life above and beyond the call of duty while engaged in an action against a hostile threat of the City, County, State and United States; while engaged in Sheriff Operations. The deed performed must have been one of personal bravery or self-sacrifice so conspicuous as to clearly distinguish the individual above his comrades and must have involved risk of life. Incontestable proof of the performance of the service will be exacted and each recommendation for the award of this decoration will be considered on the standard of extraordinary merit. Service Members, who distinguishes himself or herself conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his or her life above and beyond the call of duty, may receive both the State Medal of Valor and the Sheriff’s Office Award of Honor. Service Members who distinguishes himself or herself conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his or her life above and beyond the call of duty and who do not receive the State Medal of Valor may still receive the Sheriff’s Office Award of Honor.


CERTIFICATE STANDARD

  • All certificates must be printed in color on standardized paper style: Premium Card-stock Paper, 8.5" x 11", White.

  • All certificates will be embossed by the hand of the "Commanding Law Enforcement Officer" and signed prior to issue.
